General
Information is based on dictionaries and other sources. Pinyin readings reflect standard Mandarin usage; for some dialect alternative names it may be of little practical use, especially for South China. Many Korean glosses are highly tentative. Comments and corrections welcome.
The treecreepers are known as 旋木雀 xuán-mù-què 'tree-circling-sparrow' in Chinese. 雀 què, of course, does not refer exclusively to sparrows but is used for a broad range of (mainly) passerine birds. 旋木雀 xuán-mù-què is not exactly a household name; many dictionaries do not carry the word at all.
