The Mongolian word for 'ibis' is Билүүс bilüüs (classical bilügüs).
However, the only member of the Threskiornithidae found in the current Mongolian state is the Eurasian Spoonbill, known in Mongolian as Халбаган хушуут khalbagan khushuut meaning 'spoon billed', Халбагант khalbagant, Халбаганат khalbagnat, or Халбагат khalbagt, all meaning 'spooned'. The last is the name adopted in the updated terminology of 2007.
