General names

This list should be regarded as being 'in beta'. Information is based on dictionaries and other sources. Many Kazakh, Turkish, and Korean glosses are highly tentative. Comments and corrections welcome.

Mongolian names for the Flamecrest include Задуулай zaduulai (also Задуулай бялзуухай zaduulai byalzuukhai, Жадуулай jaduulai) and Цэндгий tsendgii (possibly also used for the wren). The name given in the original list of official names is Шар мэлзэн танан бялзуухай shar melzen tanaŋ byalzuukhai, which means 'yellow bald mother-of-pearl finch'. The name Бялзуухай byalzuukhai, here translated as 'finch', refers to small passerine songbirds.

In the 2007 official names, the genus Regulus is given the name Задуулай zaduulai, although some bilingual dictionaries indicate that this name is used for the Great Tit.
