The Dollarbird is known in Mongolian as the Эрдэнийн шувуу erdniŋ shuvuu 'precious bird'. The Dollarbird has only recently appeared in Mongolian bird lists and is officially given in the run-together form Эрдэнийншувуу erdniŋ-shuvuu. In Inner Mongolian dictionaries the normal name is Сүсэгт шувуу süsegt shuvuu 'pious bird'.
