General names

This list should be regarded as being 'in beta'. Information is based on dictionaries and other sources. Many Kazakh, Turkish, and Korean glosses are highly tentative. Comments and corrections welcome.

The sole Mongolian representative of this family is the White-browed Chinese Warbler, Rhopophilus pekinensis, which is found only in recent lists.

The name given to it is Сонд sond, a word otherwise found in Сонд хөмрөг sond khömrög 'sond bunting' (aka Шар хөмсөгт shar khömsögt 'yellow bunting'), which is probably the Yellow-browed Bunting or Meadow Bunting. The word is also found in the name Сонд бялзуухай sond byalzuukhai, possibly the same yellow-browed species.

The prinias, not found in Mongolia, are given the name Приниа заржхин prinia zarjkhiŋ 'prinia warbler' in an Inner Mongolian dictionary.

The family name, Заржгиныхан zarjginikhaŋ, is clearly related to the word zarjkhiŋ 'warbler/oriole'
